Midtown Madness 1 (still the best game) vehicle....

You may NOT use this car or any of its parts to make additional cars or anything else.

You may NOT add anything on to this car or change it in anyway, this includes any tweaking
of performance.

You may NOT distribute this car unless it is done so freely, without ANY changes and with
this README file intact. Just in case you were wondering, that means that you can't sell it
or trade it for ANYTHING, not even on eBay ;) [some guy actually did that] I didn't make any
dinero from making this car, so I don't think anyone should make any off of it.

While I'm at it, you may NOT deAR this car (even if you know how to) or otherwise reverse-
engineer the AR file. [I know some jerk is gonna try anyway...but at least I put my wishes
in the README]

-------------------------------
Installation: (you should really know how to install cars by now) Put the vpbatcar.ar file in
your Midtown Madness folder.

The Batmobile features:

Completely original 3-D model
Coneless headlights (the cones weren't deleted...just repositioned and re-textured)
Damage textures
Accurate Dashboard
Custom bounding box
Noticeably Custom shadow
Vehicle Showcase
Full-sized Vehicle description box

Known Issues:

No software rendering, it worked once so I know the MKC can do it, but
I'm gonna be gone for a while, so I didn't have time to figure it out again. Maybe later
I'll make it work.

The dash only works at 800x600 resolution. If your last driven car was driven from the dash
veiw, and you install the Batmobile and drive and your resolution is not 800x600, the game
will crash. You can drive the Batmobile from any other p.o.v. at any resolution. I think
this is somehow connected to the lack of software rendering, but I don't have time to figure
it out.

I did my best, this is my first car, so cut me some slack.

Caution: "The Car" is known to strike fear into the hearts of the
cowardly and superstitious lot....

Thanks and Appreciation to: LF22 for the use of his computers and programs
(and beta-testing and good advice), TEK_Xacto for his excellent dash textures tutorial and
for trying to help me figure out the software rendering problem--even though I couldn't,
5tephen for his very thorough tuning tutorial, Qwerty_86 for taking the time
to re-type an entire article with information about the MKC for me. Thanks to Camaro for
cracking me up with his enthusiam for...Michelle Pfeiffer...purrrrr....

Shout outs to: Mental_Mourning, M_L_F88, MC_YoungGUNS,
and The Frenchman for beta testing. Almost forgot...Bob Kane (creator of Batman) R.I.P.

Notes:

The 1989 Batmobile was built by engineer John Evans and his team based on a design by Anton
Furst. In the fictional world, the Batmobile is a VERY fast car. According to those Onstar
ads its a "rocket on wheels" that "can reach speeds over 300 miles an hour". According to DC
Comics (publisher of Batman) its top speed is unknown. In reality, the MKC was powered by
the engine of a 1968 Chevy Impala , so it wasn't very fast at all(damn slow Chevys--lol). In
tuning this car I decided that the Impala tuning would be way to slow to catch those bad-guys,
BUT the comics tuning was too fast ("top speed--Unknown"). I settled on a top speed of 240 MPH,
but it can go above that if you're a REALLY good driver. The afterburner was created by moving
the headlights to the rear and applying custom textures to them. Since the "flame" is really
just the headlight cones, it only shows up at night. Which is just as well, Batman doesn't keep
banker's hours.

All of the sounds on this car are taken right from the Batman movie. The selection screen sound
is taken from the first chemical plant scene near the beginning, the engine idle and drive sounds
are direct from the Batmobile's scenes, The horn is a bit unexpected--Its the sound of the
Batmobile starting and the afterburner firing up. If a Ricer doesn't get out of your way when
he hears that, he deserves the full wrath of the Batmobile.

This vehicle employs every known (so far) trick for making MM vehicles (except a trailer;))
I figured out on my own how to manipulate the Asset Manager to allow me to export a very
high polygon model and how to make a custom bounding box. The high polygon trick is a piece
of cake to figure out compared to the hell I went through to get a working custom bounding
box. If you deAR the ui.ar you'll figure out how to make the the vehicle description
box image full size. This vehicle also has a vehicles showcase. However the showcase only
worked on 2 of the 9 computers that the MKC was beta-tested on (and 1 of those 2 was the
computer it was made on). This is by no means a scientific ratio, so the showcase likely will
not work on many more computers. Don't be bummed though if the showcase doesn't work for you
because I've included the raw showcase jpeg image in the zip file. If you really want to see
the showcase in game you have to perform a little surgery on the ui.ar file.
First, flip the jpeg vertical ways, copy the file--name the copy VSBG_BATCAR.JPG and put both
jpegs in the ui.ar files /BMP16 folder and reship the ui.ar file and it should work. (You may
want to back up you ui.ar file first just in case something goes wrong)

Well I guess I've bored you enough...virtual Gotham...er...Chicago needs a vigilante. Go
answer the Bat-signal already!!!
