For the last two years, Icehole and I have been modifying the New York track, making it more fun and also more challenging. We could probably keep working on it for a long, long time, but have decided to release what we have now. We do plan on making a few more changes based partly on feedback from this thread, and then we'll issue the Final release.

REQUIREMENTS

- Midtown Madness 2
- The original New York Track
- A low-poly car

WHAT'S IN THE MOD?

- We've added a subway system, a sewer system, and dozens of ramps, roads, and bridges to make almost every rooftop accessible.

- Cops & Robbers mode - we've changed it to make it challenging enough to keep ourselves interested. "Roof wars" almost describes it. I would describe it as "Pure Evil"

- We've added some races to keep the single player types happy. Including a checkpoint race called "Scavenger Hunt" in which you are forced to get to several "secret" or "Difficult" locations. I figure it will take you several hours to figure it out. It takes me Just under 40 minutes to complete it, and I know how to get to everything. Good luck with this one! mwha ha haa!!

RECOMMENDED SETTINGS

Renderer-- Use "Hardware" (3D Video Card) DO NOT USE the T&L option. it eats memory and the track will probably not load
Resolution-- 1024x768 if you get "Heap overrun" errors you need to either lower the resolution, or even better, use a low-poly car. If the .ar file for your car is bigger than 1MB then it's probably not a low-poly car.
Traffic- turned all the way down.

FAQs

Q: I got a "Heap Overrun" error when loading the track... what's up?
A: You're using too much memory. New York is using close to the max already so you've got to be careful. Use a low-poly car. Try loading the track w/ a car that came w/ the game. Also Be sure traffic and pedestrians are off. Finally, you can try lowering the game's resolution.

Q: When I load the MOD, everything is white. WTF?
A: You must have the original New york .ar file in your MM2 directory.

Q: I downloaded the MOD, but I only see the original new york. what's wrong?
A: The MOD's .ar file must load BEFORE the original new york .ar file.. Try putting a few explanation marks at the front of the filename. If this doesn't work try downloading the mod again.
