CarLoader : CarLoader is a program that keeps track of cars and tracks for Midtown Madness. I suggest getting this program (http://drive.to/carloader). The Oldsmobile is not compatible with CarLoader. It will read the file as "(error) vp89_88.ar". To fix it, let it finish loading, then right click "(error) vp89_88.ar" and select "Change Name" and change it to "'89 Olds Eighty-Eight Beater". Move the picture that's included in the zip to your CarLoader images folder. To view the picture, right click "'89 Olds Eighty-Eight Beater" and select "View".

Recommended : 80-100% Physics, anything lower and the car's steering gets too sensitive and it may tip on two wheels.

Notes : This is the first generation of the front wheel drive Oldsmobile Delta 88. It was downsized (in 1986) from the larger rear wheel drive models based off the Chevy Impala/Caprice. In 1989, Oldsmobile changed the name from "Delta 88" to "Eighty-Eight". I perfer to call all Eighty-Eights the Delta 88 and I don't see anything wrong with that. I also think it sounds cooler.

This MM re-creation has 3D mirrors, recessed rear license plate, and 3D door handles (a first!). There's also a special selection screen model. The engine sounds are froma real GM 3800 V6. I know it might seem annoying, but it's pretty accurate. The horn is from the '68 Mustang in-game and it works well. The selection screen sound is a clip of "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night. If you have a problem with the sounds, turn off your speakers. The tuning is perfect. It has slight bodyroll, but still controlable. It handles just like an '80s sedan. Just tap the handbrakes (after getting to above 50 MPH and starting a turn) to get it sliding. If you start to oversteer, give lots of counter steer to correct it. It's really easy to drive since it's FWD. It takes some getting used to the tuning. It can do 0-60 in about 9 seconds (official time is around 9.5 seconds) and a top speed of about 105-120 MPH (official top speed is the same). The automatic transmission is tuned with the overdrive gear. That's why the revs drop down pretty low in the 3-4 shift. The manual is tuned with equally spaced gears. I don't believe the Delta 88 came with a manual transaxle. Each color has it's own license plate (courtesy of the License Plate shack - http://www.plateshack.com/plateshack.html and ACME License Plate Maker - http://www.acme.com/licensemaker/). The colors are quite fun. There's the classic "neglected" beater paint scheme complete with rust, new doors, and fading. I've also included a classic Driver's Education paint scheme and a Pizza Delivery paint scheme. Those paint schemes were first used on the Dodge Aries I made a while ago. They both have the famous paint fade from '80s cars. And to top it all off, a really fun paint scheme called "Good Time". The color is suppose to be a flat pink. The kind of quick paint job someone might do with just a can of paint and no clearcoat. The phone number might seem familiar if you've listened to a certain '80s song. I highly recommend not to call that phone number. If you do, I'm not responsible for anything that happens to you. The dash is one of the best ones I've made so far. It's too bad my original idea got shot down by the game. My original idea of having solid needles and having it look realistic was spoiled by the fact that the game puts the needle object on top of the dash no matter what's covering the needles.

Known issues : At redline, the sounds can be heard looping. It also has a funky sound where the idle and drive sounds mix. IMO, reflections aren't symmetrical. The dash needles seem to be floating, but whatever. Also, since the speedometer is a "sweeping" speedometer, it's not the most accurate. That's why I hate making these speedometers. I think they're cool, but they so much of a hassle.
