CarLoader : CarLoader is a program that keeps track of cars and tracks for Midtown Madness. I suggest getting this program (http://drive.to/carloader). The Mercury is not compatible with CarLoader. It will read the file as "(error) vp91sable.ar". To fix it, let it finish loading, then right click "(error) vp91sable.ar" and select "Change Name" and change it to "'91 Mercury Sable". Move the picture that's included in the zip to your CarLoader images folder. To view the picture, right click "'91 Mercury Sable" and select "View".

Recommended : 80-100% Physics, anything lower and the car's steering gets too sensitive and it may tip on two wheels.

Notes : The Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable were revolutionary cars back in the day. It set the standard for aerodynamic design. The Mercury Sable is quite unique with it's lighted grille (as some call it the "lightbar"). The engines available on the first generation Sables were a 2.5L I4, 3.0L V6, or a 3.8L V6. I choose the 3.0L V6 (Vulcan) for this car because it was the most popular engine at the time.

This MM re-creation has 3D mirrors. The sounds are from my Sable. The drive sounds were mixed with the Mustang sound. I know it might seem annoying, but it's pretty accurate. The horn is from the '68 Mustang in-game and it works well. The selection screen sound is a clip of "Obsession" by Animotion (this song describes my feelings about this car). If you have a problem with the sounds, turn off your speakers. The tuning is perfect. It has slight bodyroll, but still controlable. Just tap the handbrakes (after getting to above 50 MPH and starting a turn) to get it sliding. If you start to oversteer, give lots of counter steer to correct it. It's really easy to drive since it's FWD. It takes some getting used to the tuning. It can do 0-60 in about 10 seconds (official time is around 10.2 seconds) and a top speed of about 105-120 MPH (official top speed is the same). Only the Taurus came with a manual transaxle option. Sables never came with stick-shift. The manual portrayed in the game is just an automatic that you have to manually shift. Although on the real car, it would not be possible to manually shift the automatic since it goes from overdrive (4) to drive (3) to first (1). The colors are a good selection. They are the most popular colors. Well, I see tons of white first generation Sables. Gray is pretty much universal on an '80s car. And red just looks nice. The dash is of a '91 Sable sedan with a '92-'95 Sable cluster. I know the cluster isn't the right one. I didn't feel like editing new guages onto it. The first generation cluster looks exactly like the second generation cluster, except the tach and speedo had more lines to it and the tach is more colorful.

Known issues : There are some weird shading and reflection problems around the car. It might look better with reflections off. The rear wheel shows up thru the fender at a distance using the V-cam. Try and take your screenshots closer to the car.
